About this deal

Embark on an epic journey of adventure and discovery with the One Piece Box Set: East Blue and Baroque Works (Volumes 1-23 with Premium) by Eiichiro Oda- an unparalleled manga series that delivers an action-packed and emotional story with a larger than life cast of characters and a premium edition that includes exclusive artwork and other bonus materials. One Piece is a series that has truly amazing foresight and world building, Similar to the world building of Game of Thrones, Lord of The Rings, and Hunter X Hunter.

Pictures would be more useful than my descriptions alone, so I'll upload some and add them to this review at a later date. One of the most popular comic artists in Japan today, Oda started out by winning the Hop Step Award (a monthly award given by Jump for amateur artists) as well as the esteemed Tezuka Award. Volumes 4,5 and 6 were about Luffy going on an adventure to find his crewmates, in which he becomes friendly with Sanji, who worked in a restaurant. And when we do reach the point where we are several adventures in, our main characters have changed in meaningful and powerful ways.

But his life changed when he accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Fruit, an enchanted Devil Fruit that gave him the ability to stretch like rubber. Previous chapters has been good at rapidly expanding the crew but their battle vs the Fishmen pirates is where everyone gets a chance to shine and their comradery is truly put on blast. Usual criticism of Japanese Shonen Jump style applies (Rampant objectification of woman, models of romantic relationships replaced by ogling and crass flirtatious behaviour or stone cold indifference, Deus ex Machina is a Latin word but I'm certain the Japs invented the concept - the hero always has some extra strength against the villain despite prior evidence against that, moral codes replaced by simplistic/extremely idealistic models of being great at heart, and their world almost always divided into neat compartments of good and evil) but that's also why the comic succeeds (watch me, I am going to be the King of Pirates says the protagonist in the first chapter, and is on a steady monotonic path to greatness till chapter 216, where this compilation ends), and in doing so is probably comparable to the larger than life Disney movie superheroes of our times. Volumes 4,5, and 6 were the first-ever one-piece book I read and I was fascinated by every page and read it in one day, the day I borrowed the book.A premium box set of the first two story arcs of One Piece, one of the most beloved and bestselling manga series of all time!

Not only does Zoro vs Mihawk really expand the world in a subtle but great way, but Luffy vs the Don is a great matchup really showing off how cowardly some pirates fight. The box looks quite nice and is strong enough to provide an extra layer of protection for your books. My rating is completely pointless, though, as I've been reading One Piece since I was 9 and I still think it's a masterpiece. Years later, Luffy sets off on his quest to find the "One Piece," said to be the greatest treasure in the world. The Buggy chronicles starts to make Buggy a compelling character, the Koby story is pretty important and interesting, the Django story is fun and a riot, and the Hachi one is sweet and surprisingly hits well.
