Several deluxe versions of the 2002 cat were released. One such set included a Newborn Kitten and blanket, while another included a 2003 Kitten. The 2002 Cat was featured in the New York Times article "Building a Better Cat," which details the genesis of the FurReal brand as well as the design process of the cat itself. [1]
