About this deal

Protect the delicate area around your eyes from damage caused by the sun, squinting and other stressors with Clinique's eye cream. Clinique All About Eyes Iris: regulates the amount of light that enters your eye. It forms the coloured, visible part of your eye in front of the lens. Light enters through a central opening called the pupil.

Sclera: the white part of the eye, a tough covering with which the cornea forms the external protective coat of the eye. The eyelid also has great reflexes, which are automatic body responses, that protect the eye. When you step into bright light, for example, the eyelids squeeze together tightly to protect your eyes until they can adjust to the light. And if you flutter your fingers close (but not too close!) to your friend's eyes, you'll be sure to see your friend's eyes blink. Your friend's eyelids shut automatically to protect the eye from possible danger. And speaking of fluttering, don't forget eyelashes. They work with the eyelids to keep dirt and other unwanted stuff out of your eyes. What's the Sclera?

Cones sense color and they need more light than rods to work well. Cones are most helpful in normal or bright light. The retina has three types of cones. Each cone type is sensitive to one of three different colors — red, green, or blue — to help you see different ranges of color. Together, these cones can sense combinations of light waves that let our eyes to see millions of colors.

Your eyes are one of your brain’s windows to the world. They gather light from your surroundings and help your brain build the picture you see. It’s easy to take this sense for granted when it works properly and easy to miss when it doesn’t. You can do several things to help protect and maintain your eyes, many of which involve simple steps you can take every day. Savino, Peter J.; Danesh-Meyer, Helen V. (2012). Solar Lighting. Springer Science & Business Media. p.62. ISBN 978-1-4471-2134-3.The retina has a static contrast ratio of around 100:1 (about 6.5 f-stops). As soon as the eye moves rapidly to acquire a target ( saccades), it re-adjusts its exposure by adjusting the iris, which adjusts the size of the pupil. Initial dark adaptation takes place in approximately four seconds of profound, uninterrupted darkness; full adaptation through adjustments in retinal rod photoreceptors is 80% complete in thirty minutes. The process is nonlinear and multifaceted, so an interruption by light exposure requires restarting the dark adaptation process over again.

Conjunctiva: a thin layer of tissue that covers the entire front of your eye, except for the corneaFluorescein angiography: The doctor injects a fluorescent dye into a vein to take a series of retinal images. Changes in the color of the sclera (such as blue or yellow sclera) or noticeable bleeding into the conjunctiva. Cone cells are the second type of light sensitive cells in the retina of the eye. The human retina contains between six and seven million cones; they function best in bright light and are essential for acute vision (receiving a sharp accurate image). It is thought that there are three types of cones, each sensitive to the wavelength of a different primary colour – red, green or blue. Other colours are seen as combinations of these primary colours. Lozato, PA; Pisella, PJ; Baudouin, C (June 2001). "The lipid layer of the lacrimal tear film: physiology and pathology". Skullcap root extract contains numerous bioactive compounds, such as the flavonoids baicalein, oroxylin A, and wogonin. These antioxidants help to combat free radical damage that can lead to premature signs of skin aging. Scutellaria baicalensis root extract is also a very potent tyrosinase inhibitor. Thus, skullcap root extract is another ingredient in Clinique All About Eyes that can help to brighten the eye area.

Medications can treat many conditions that — either directly or indirectly — affect your eyes. The type of medication depends on the specific condition(s) involved and other factors. The eyeball grows rapidly, increasing from about 16–17mm (0.63–0.67in) diameter at birth to 22.5–23mm (0.89–0.91in) by three years of age. By age 12, the eye attains its full size.
