Well I ran two wires directly from battery terminals to the two wires coming out of the blower motor (red and green) and the blower motor did not work at all. At the moment I have been using car and everything is working as it should but I know this might not last. If you're suspicious of the earth connection in the plug then connect the thick wire that ISN'T green (the red I think you said) directly to an earth point. I have read various post that the most likely part having failed will be the heater control unit (resistor).
