They allow you to judge things in an objective, unbiased manner to an extent that I wouldn't previously have expected from a pair of headphones. I should also emphasize that I've never heard the KNS 8400, so I can't compare their sound to the 8402 based on my own experience.Less comfortable than Beyerdynamics because of their smaller headband and pads size so you need to try it on your head before purchase. The KNS 8400 headphones, with their ability to reveal exactly what you have on the tracks, are an ideal choice for critical listening. Accurate, durable, comfortable and cost-effective, famed for their studio monitor ranges, KRK have produced a respectable pair of closed-back, circumaural studio headphones that provide all the levels you'll ever need with a maximum SPL of 122 dB, all while remaining clear and detailed sounding, with very low distortion. My impression of the KRKs is that they are no-frill, professional monitors at an affordable cost (not paying for any gimmicks).
