About this deal

The rest of the VIDAA U4 experience is basically fine, and if that sounds like damning with faint praise, then it probably is. It’s usable, responsive and pleasant looking but, as with many TV UIs, we aren't convinced that the content suggestions are all that helpful, particularly when they require subscriptions and rental fees to access them. We do, at least, like that the content is grouped by genre and that it’s made clear which service they’re on before you select them. Hisense’s recent strong run of form comes to a shuddering halt with the 55A7GQ. Any good work this TV musters is completely overwhelmed and undermined by a contrast performance so poor that dark or even mid-bright scenes never look remotely convincing. In fact, it’s sometimes hard to even make out what’s going on.Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) Gamers, again, will be delighted to hear that as with Hisense’s U8 and U7 Mini LED TVs for 2023, the 55E7K Pro provides a Dolby Vision Gaming mode, and supports Dolby Vision gaming at 4K/120Hz. Switch to standard-def content from the built-in tuner and the Hisense copes much better, largely because the higher frame rate of the signal requires less processing from the TV, and the motion smearing issue is almost gone. The Hisense 55A6BGTUK boasts a 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution, providing stunning clarity and sharpness. With four times the number of pixels compared to Full HD, the 4K resolution ensures a more detailed and lifelike viewing experience. Fine details in movies, TV shows, and games are vividly reproduced, delivering an immersive visual feast. 8K Resolution The 55A7GQ avoids a complete picture quality wash-out on three fronts. First, its native 4K pictures are impressively sharp and crisp. This remains reasonably if not brilliantly intact when there’s motion in the frame, too, thanks to minimal judder and surprisingly little blurring and resolution loss if you call up the set’s decently effective Clear Motion setting. Let’s cut to the chase: the 55A7GQ’s picture quality turns out to be hugely disappointing, especially as it arrives amid a generally upward trajectory for Hisense TVs. We watch Spider-man Homecoming on 4K Blu-ray, and even small movements are blurry. There’s smearing in action scenes, but the effect is actually worse during close-up shots. Slight movements of a head, the type of which are frequent in any film or TV show, cause this TV issues. It's a trait that was fairly common of cheaper LCD sets a few years ago, but that we haven't seen for quite a while.Color performance is excellent, and in line with the similarly impressive range and accuracy from the Hisense U6H and U8H. The above charts show the U8H’s color levels in Filmmaker mode with an SDR signal compared against Rec.709 broadcast standards, and with an HDR signal compared against DCI-P3 digital cinema standards. SDR colors are nearly perfect, with greens just a touch oversaturated. Magentas and yellows also run just slightly warm, but not to a significant degree. HDR colors cover almost the entire DCI-P3 color space. Greens fall just slightly short, while cyans and magentas skew a bit green and red respectively. In both cases, the white balance in Filmmaker Mode is just about perfect. Out of the box, the colors on the U7H are excellent, with whites that are more spot-on than the U8H but with a slightly lower color range.

While the Hisense 55A6BGTUK offers decent sound quality, it may need to match the performance of dedicated sound systems. The built-in speakers produce clear audio, but for a more immersive experience, connecting external speakers or a soundbar is recommended. The TV supports various audio formats and offers customization options to adjust the sound.
