If the player to your left or right has exploded this round, move your marker forward another space for each. What I like to call “the worst job in board gaming”, one player takes a cardboard grid at the start of the games and assigns each ingredient an alchemical. Instead of using the app, one player asks the game master what his pairing produces. The game master tells him and the player records it in his notes. And that’s it for the game master… for 2 hours. If really don’t want to use the app and prefer to go with the game master, I’d suggest inviting someone you hate over, because this role seems pretty horrible. Seriously though, if you hate the app integration that much, I’d suggest playing something else. Alchemists is a worker placement and deduction game for 2-4 players that takes about 2 hours to play. Alchemists plays great with any number of players. Game Overview: The use of the app is very necessary to the game, and whilst it can be played without it would be needlessly complicated. If you are a tabletop gamer who thinks that games can do without a techy aspect then you may not like Alchemists.

The alchemy conference is always well attended. Alchemists come from far and wide to exchange knowledge with their peers. Well, actually it's just a big brag fest, but the sandwiches are nice.Shuffle in the new fortune teller cards in with the ones from the base game. Some of these cards have a symbol on them, indicating which expansion they belong to, either a witches hat if it belongs to the Herb Witches expansion or a flask if it’s for the Alchemists. For the cards that have no symbol, they can be used in the base game without any issue. If you do not get the result you claimed, move your cube to the space. You lose 1 point of reputation.

Ah, but the craft of alchemy is about more than mixing potions. Alchemists seek knowledge, of course, but what they truly value is prestige. Making your mark on the world will not be easy. You need to publish before your colleagues do, expose the flaws in their theories, and get the powerful artifacts before they are all sold out. You see, you are not the only alchemist in town. Master or Apprentice The card reader will tell you which alchemical was associated with each ingredient. Go through the theories one-by-one. On each theory, reveal all the seals. Alchemists is a game of risk assessment, strategy, and deduction. Do you experiment to get more knowledge or do you publish now to receive more points? Pay to endorse the newest theory of toads or save your money for an artifact? And should you really be selling that portion to the large axe-wielding barbarian when you aren't really sure of its effects? The choices you make will prove if you are the world's greatest alchemist. Speaking of actions, I will say that they game is much tighter at the higher player counts. With only 2 players, you get 6 actions cubes to use, however you only get 4 cubes at the top of the range. While that might not seem like much, those two actions can make a big difference. Competition will be a lot more fierce with 4 players to be the first to publish.The player with the most seals on the theory board gains 1 point of reputation. If no theories have been published, no one gets this award. If players are tied, all tied players gain 1 point.
