About this deal

At first glance, we couldn’t help but notice how busy the Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach looks. There are all sorts of accessories and design features, making it a far cry from the slimline design of modern cordless vacs. And it’s got a turbo brush head that ensures that you can get a deep clean in and around your furniture. I know my dog sleeps on the sofa and tends to leave big clumps of hair behind, holding up the whole vacuum doesn’t work so a special tool is a must. Our biggest issue is the hose attachment. Every time you want to use it, you have to detach it from where it’s stored, clip it to the airflow, and then add the tool you want. It’s frustratingly inconvenient and inefficient. Filtration Thinking of buying the Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach? Read our in-depth review of this vacuum cleaner to learn more about its strengths and weaknesses. The Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach has a swivelling low profile floorhead without any headlights. The rotating brush bar is the best feature, as you can turn it on or off depending on the floor type you’re cleaning.

H-UPRIGHT 500 REACH is ultra manouevrable in use with a swivelling, low profile floor nozzle to glide around your home easily. Switch the brush bar on when on carpets and slide the vent cover to vary the suction if required. Turn the brush bar off when cleaning hard floors. The rotating brush bar can be switched off easily so the vacuum can glide more gently over deep pile rugs. We found out the hard way that you must switch off the auto sensor and brush bar buttons when vacuuming delicate surfaces - when we attempted to vacuum over a Persian carpet with the auto sensor button and brush bar on the machine went into overdrive and tried to chew up the tassles. We tried again with both buttons off and it then glided over the carpet and tassles without fault. As I said, there are not a lot of luxury add-ons, so there isn’t too much left to say except this: if you want an easy and efficient way to clean your carpets, for the price you will be hard-pressed to find a more powerful bagless vacuum. The suction level can be regulated with an easy to use dial. Use the high speed for floors and low speed for carpet. Deep pile rugs, however, can use something in the middle. The Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach offers average cleaning performance. It’s decent enough on carpets, but struggles on hard floors and loses suction power as the canister fills up. You won’t believe you paid so little for this bagless vacuum by Duronic. It’s such a pleasant surprise when you can put budget and quality in the same sentence. Now while it isn’t cheap this is the best cordless vacuum cleaner you can buy, it does a superb job of vacuuming on hard floor and carpets while being lightweight enough to carry upstairs. Plus it’s can run for 60 minutes in eco mode, plenty to get around your entire house. Some nice features make it stand out. It is easy to use since the steel hose is telescopic. It collapses into the body and becomes a handheld duster perfect for using in the car or furniture.

The foot of this vacuum has been engineered with a flexible joint, helping you to navigate around your home and furniture with ease. You get a couple of accessories with the Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach. The long crevice tool is good to see, as most recent vacuums have a shorter version that’s much less useful. The Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach is one of the cheaper upright vacuum cleaners. But does it offer value for money? Unfortunately, we think this vacuum cleaner has some major flaws that make it difficult to recommend. While it provides decent performance on carpets, it struggles on hard floors and is inconvenient to use. With that said, it’s available for a great price and could still be an option to consider if you have carpeted floors. The Bissell PowerLifter bagless vacuum excels in cleaning pet hair because of its power, but also special attention to details.

Expect a professional-level cleaning experience with the Shark bagless vacuum, it’s got superb suction, works on hard floor and carpet and it’s got the coveted anti-hair wrap that stops it getting tangled up with hair. Storage space is tight: At 113.5cm high and 6.25kg in weight, this isn’t the lightest design you can buy and older folk may find it cumbersome. For something that’s easily portable up the stairs you may want to consider a cordless or cylinder model instead.

You have one type of flooring in your home: While this machine works well on all types of flooring, if you have one type of flooring in your home, it may not be worth paying more for a feature you don’t need. You need a powerful vacuum: With floor sensor technology as well as manual suction control, this vacuum gives you flexibility. In many cases, the bagless vacuums are also more efficient as they are less likely to get clogged and need more power to maintain suction. This ends up costing less in electricity over time, as well. So, how does this Hoover compare to other upright vacuums on the market? Does the extra reach make cleaning easier? Read our Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach review for all the details. Overview of the Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach’s Features To protect your floors further, the 500 Reach has “Intellicare Technology”. This stops the brushes from spinning when the vac is stationary, which prevents scuffs.

Besides the excellent suction power, you get Duo Clean action from 2 roller brushes working together to battle the most stubborn pet hair. The first roller is soft and helps work dirt up from hard floors. The second roller features lots of smaller brushes to beat the carpet free of pet hair and stains. That said, you don’t get a pet attachment included, so it’s not as versatile for clearing up after your furry friends in other areas. There is a pet model available that includes the tool and is a better option if you have animals. Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach Price and Value for MoneyThe bagless design also puts more weight on the top of the vacuum cleaner, adding to the overall strain to keep it in a straight line. Even the long 10m power cord has a tedious manual rewind, although we probably wouldn’t expect an automatic rewind function from such a budget vacuum. The Hoover H-Upright 500 Reach is a bagless upright vacuum cleaner that’s at the lower end of the price spectrum. As the “Reach” name suggests, it has a wide cleaning radius compared to many uprights. Other features include a swivel nozzle floorhead and HEPA filter for enhanced filtration. There’s a reason upright vacuum cleaners are such a popular choice – this classic style does it all, with a lightweight, easy-to-manoeuvre design and exceptional cleaning power. From the HL5 to the best-selling Upright 300, there’s an upright vacuum for everyone. Our upright vacuum cleaners promise high-performance cleaning on all floor types. Whether you want to deep clean your carpet or tidy a hardwood floor, a versatile stand up Hoover will get the job done. Our upright vacuums also come with push and lift capabilities and instant release wands, allowing portability for all your above-floor cleaning needs, such as sofas and stairs. We know how frustrating it can be to get hair caught in your vacuum, which is why we’ve introduced ANTI-TWIST™ technology to our upright vacuums. ANTI-TWIST™ means you don’t need to worry about hair getting tangled; our tech automatically removed it from the brushbar. When the brush bar is on it will agitate the carpet fibres so you easily lift out dirt and debris and when you switch it off it will leave your delicate surfaces scratch free.
